September 28: #94 - Today is gonna be a looooong day

A very early start to my shortened working week. Given that yesterday was a public holiday here in Western Australia and given that I have to get some training organised for a course that starts at 9am - my day started at 6am and in the office by 7.20. It's gonna be a long day.

  • Exercise / Weight Loss : My shoulders and arms are very sore. A combination of personal training yesterday and a lot of gardening on the weekend me thinks. Do I train again tonight or give tonight a miss and go tomorrow as planned? Am I bailing? Not really. I am just conscious of the fact that muscles do need a rest between major exercise sessions, and I've trained / worked hard for the last 3 days.
  • Incidental exercise : Walked at lunch time - very hot day today, so not far and not fast, but it did ease the kinks out of the legs somewhat. One thing I will say with regards to exercise is this - most people assume that because it hurts, you need to rest for about a week before doing anything else. Well if it's really hurting and not just an ache, then absoutely, along with ice and elevation and if necessary strapping. But aches, no you don't need to over-rest these kinds of aches.
  • Ad-hoc spending : I really wanted a cup of coffee this morning, but I did not buy any - and the craving soon disappeared when I got busy again. Did pick up a couple of bits from the supermarket today - but I have noticed a major flaw in my plan. The supermarkets where I shop don't have any decent stationary, and my journal is running out. Someone help me out here, I am going to need a new journal - hardback, A5 before the challenge is finished. Tell me the name of a supermarket in Perth, Western Australia that sells decent stationary and not the school textbook variety.
  • Motivating you : Well I have been getting feedback from one or two challengers, so that is good. One comment yesterday said she didn't think she would be able to stick it out for the 100 days. My response - treat each day as a separate entity. Work on your goals and challenges for just one day, then tomorrow you do the same. Focus on one day at a time. No Daily Dose email today, but there will be one tomorrow. So until then - adieu and good luck with today's challenge.
