What kind of example are you setting?

Welcome to today's issue of The Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine. The e-zine of Motivateme: Breaking the Procrastination Habit. http://www.motivateme.info. Have you signed up for your daily dose yet?
----------------------------------------------------------
Today I would like to spend a little bit more time on the complex issue of image, but rather than focus entirely on what you are wearing, I would like to expand just a little. Therefore we are going to be looking at the example you are setting today.

When people look at you, what do you think they see? Do they see someone who is always immaculately dressed, as we discussed in a previous edition - remember you are a director of first impressions - but what of your manner, mood and demeanour? If you can, could you please go and find a mirror....what do you see? Are you happy or sad? Do you look tired or relaxed? Our eyes might be the mirrors of our souls, but the face is an amazing barometer of the depths of our feelings and emotions.

Now I need you to put your face in "neutral" ie., you are neither frowning or happy take a good look at the lines stretching away from your mouth. Which way are they pointing? A strange comment perhaps, but another excellent indicator of your general demeanour and mood. For example, those of you with lines stretching downwards will spend more time unhappy than happy, and vice versa.

Now if that isn't enough to think about today, here is another thing I would ask you to consider. The way that you hold your body, the way that you walk, the way that you talk all set an example - be it good or bad. The important thing to note is that everyone around you will look to "you" for their clues as to how you will react in a given situation. If your face could melt lead, then guess what, they're hardly likely to engage in a "happy" conversation with you, you will find people avoiding you instead. And conversely people who are genuinely happy, will draw others to them.

What kind of example are you setting for yourself? Holding your body in a negative manner will manner will automatically "depress" you - so sit or stand tall, shoulders back and look the world right in the eye. Because there are no more excuses.

You will get more enjoyment from life, if you actually enjoy the moments you have been given. So get your face out of neutral and start living your life as if you were enjoying it. Believe it or not, the added bonus is that you will get a lot more done that way.

Of course if you don't want to get more, do more and be more than you currently are, then carry on as before, after all it is entirely up to you.
