An exercise
Welcome to today's issue of The Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine. The e-zine of Motivateme: Breaking the Procrastination Habit. http://www.motivateme.info. Have you signed up for your daily dose yet?
----------------------------------------------------------
For those of you who are regular readers of the Daily Dose and the website - motivateme - you will know that one of the reasons that I created the site in the first place was to help other people get more out of their lives, and in doing so, kick start my own.
Have you ever found yourself thinking that you have it just about right, then discover not so long later, that you have actually been spinning your wheels? I do it all the time. Now it could be argued that that is the process of growth. We struggle for a while learning new disciplines, removing old ones, then coast for a while, until we make the next push forwards. It doesn't matter what your goals are, unless you are doing something towards them every day, you are unlikely to get beyond the plateau we spoke about a few days ago.
Books can't be written in one day, neither can entire houses be painted or gardens completely renovated (unless you are part of the backyard blitz team that is). And for those of you who exercise on a regular basis will know that fitness cannot be done once, then bottled and stored for a rainy day.
Having procrastinated for so long over my weight issues, I decided to take it right back to basics. Weight loss (or gain) is a simple equation...eat more than you need and you will put on weight, eat less than you burn off and you will lose weight. Simple! until you start to look at serving sizes and misleading packaging that is. So I found my calorie counter book (i hate counting the darn things) and did some maths. Even with the exercise I did last night, I had managed to overeat by several hundred calories ...so what? Well in my research I also found it takes just an excess of 7,700 calories to create a kilo of fat. Which equates to about a carton of beer.....not that I am a beer drinker, preferring wine - so in wine terms - about 15 bottles....or 15 oven roasted chicken 6" subs (without mayo) or 7 and half big macs and large fries....or 30 60g Mars Bars or whatever is your particular downfall of choice....read the labels you'd be surprised.
So, today I would like you to take it back to basics. What are your projects, goals or dreams, and what are you doing today to reach them? If you don't do something today, when will you do something? If you aren't doing something today - then you are not serious about breaking the procrastination habit. So please, it's time to get back to basics.
