"The manner of giving is worth more than the gift"
Pierre Corneille (1606-1684)
French dramatist

I love giving gifts to people. I prefer though to give gifts at unexpected times. Whilst I also give gifts at Birthdays, Christmas and all the "normal" dates, unexpected gifts, cards, letters, the gift of listening, the gift of being with someone when you could be off doing other things, now those gifts can be priceless. Why? Well you give because you truly want to.
It says:
I've been thinking about you
I want you to be as happy in receiving the gift as I was when I bought it
But I also like to give gifts to people without them knowing it's from me....that way there can be no ego involved, you can see the delight in their faces, and you can share that joy without them knowing that it was from you...
These "gifts" don't have to be big, I buy scratchies, and post them to people...
and cards with poetry or things that I know the person likes....
A colleague got a card and a $100 postal order...now that was a gift and a half, and it was totally anonymous. She eventually cashed it, but not until she had regaled everyone who she met with the story....and no it wasn't from me. But what an idea.
But you cannot give with a grudge because that rather negates the gift and the thought. So if you are not in a good frame of mind, then wait until you are. You will feel much better for doing so.
And so it is with most things in life. Do things begrudgingly and you will do so slowly and delay starting them if you can. Do things because you want to and you will get things done far more quickly and far more easily, and usually with a smile on your face. So if you are struggling with a project ask yourself if you resent the task and / or the person who asked you to do it. Then ask yourself, if you have to do it - as in there is no way that you cannot do it, then ask yourself if you would sooner be happy doing the task or grumpy....
