Give without regret

Welcome to today's issue of The Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine. The e-zine of Motivateme: Breaking the Procrastination Habit. http://www.motivateme.info. Have you signed up for your daily dose yet?
----------------------------------------------------------
Have you started to think about de-cluttering your lives so that you can find whatever it is you need to find? Have you started to look at what fills your life and your houses and work spaces. If the items don't fulfil an immediate need, and you can't see yourself using the item within a couple of months, consider giving it away or having a garage sale. The beauty of giving things away, means you have room to receive more.

I'm not sure if you've heard of the seed money principle...basically it works along similar lines to tithing (ie., you give part of your money to church or charities), but with "seed money" you are planting the idea that you are giving with a hope to receiving back in return. If this sounds grasping, consider this - you don't plant veggie seeds and hope the veggies don't grow do you? Now you can do the seed planting deliberately or you can do it non-consciously, the only thing that it asks you to do is give without regret. If you can do that - you will be amazed at what starts to come your way.

And you don't have to do it just with money...although a hint - if you want more money to come to you - then you need to give money away. Start with little amounts - give it to street vendors and charity collectors...and believe you will get money (money off, discounts, overtime all count) back in return. The interesting thing about this is that it works with other things too - for example. I gave a friend a box of glasses I'd got stuck in the back of the cupboard - she was always breaking them and money being a bit tight...so I gave her some of mine....a week or so later, another friend offered me a piece of glass - suitable for a coffee table that she was getting rid of..Coincidence - no I don't think so. For every religion that I am aware of there is the law of sowing and reaping, give without regret and you will receive. Hoard everything that you have and you will struggle.

You may be wondering what this has to do with procrastination and a general lack of motivation. Well it is interesting, and we have touched on this aspect in the past...if you are stuck doing the same things in the same way, your energy will be stuck too. Giving things away, spring cleaning etc gives the energy a chance to move again. One thing I have noticed is that it is almost impossible to be down and depressed when you are busy creating a new life. Now we may have to start small, cleaning the kitchen drawer may not sound like it is a very exciting way to break the procrastination habit. But if you can choose an area where you know you have been stuck - and we all have metaphorical kitchen drawers that need de-cluttering, and spend a few minutes on it today, and a few minutes on it tomorrow, by the end of the week you will have managed to move your project forward by quite a distance.

Remember - houses have to be built a single brick at a time.

Clean your "kitchen drawers"
Give the stuff you don't want to someone who does
Give without regret
Open yourself up to receive more - opportunities, money, "stuff"
Say thank you when you do receive....

The final point is essential....whenever you receive something (no matter what it is) - you should say thank you....if you don't you will stop the good flowing your way. Don't believe me - do you know a sad, sour faced person who never says thank you for anything? Is that person always whingeing about how poor or unlucky they are????

Thank you for listening to today's ramblings. Thank you for passing on these newsletters to others. Thank you for being open to new ways of thinking. Thank you.
