----------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning

Carrying on from yesterday's ramblings on how to motivate others, today I'd like to offer some suggestions on how to motivate yourself:

First of all I will let you in on a secret. All the planning you've done so far is absolutely no good if you are not "in the mood" to do something towards your goals, dreams and ambitions.

Another secret....there is never a right time. There will always be things (people or events) that get in your way and take your time, energy and money. It's a fact of life - get used to it.

So if there is never a right time, and you simply aren't in the mood to get started, what can you do?

Start anyway!! And you were hoping I was going to say have a day off weren't you. Recharge your batteries, forget the plans just for today.

Well you can do that if you want to, after all every thing you want to do, be or see is entirely up to you. I can't stand over you and insist you do anything. I can only motivate myself to be better than I was yesterday, I can't expect you to do anything - if you don't want to.

If you want to do more, and be more, then all you need to do is make the next five minutes better than the last five minutes. Anyone can be better for the next five minutes - can't they. One thing to remember, is that today is all you have. Tomorrow hasn't arrived yet, and who knows for some people it may never do so.

So - all well and good I can hear you say, you don't have my problems, you don't have my worries. Well no I don't know many of you personally, but I do know that my problems, concerns and worries are just as important to me as yours are to you. But by taking each decision as they come, by trying to be better in the next five minutes than the last five, I don't have to worry about some unforseen events in the future. We seem to spend a lot of time worrying over events that may not happen, and if they do - well we usually find a way to solve the problem don't we.

Each big project will have a million tiny steps that you need to take in order to get there. Each tiny step, may take a few seconds, minutes or hours to do. But each time you complete one of those tiny pieces, you have slotted another piece into your own personal jigsaw puzzle. And like most difficult jigsaw puzzles, sometimes you will have to try numerous different pieces before you find the right one. So instead of bashing the jigsaw when you get frustrated, tearing all your hard work to pieces again....persevere. Be consistent in your actions. Try a piece, if it doesn't work put it in another pile, don't put it back in the main pile - why - well you may end up trying the same piece over and over and over again....

yes the old cliche - if you do something in the same way you will get the same results.

Consistency with anything is essential - To use the exercise example, buying a gym membership doesn't count - you do have to go, and you have to go 3-4 times a week and sweat to get the benefit. Once in a blue moon doesn't count!! (By the way a Blue Moon occurs about every 2 and a half years or when there are 2 full moons in a calendar month).

Be better in the next 5 minutes than you were the last 5
Start now - there never will be a right time
Take one decision at a time.
Don't sit on the fence and wait for someone to push you off onto the wrong side - stop giving away your power.
Be consistent with your actions. Chip away at the problems.....if you can't take a flying leap that is....some gaps can only be made in one jump!!
And be persistent - do something towards your goals for 5 minutes, make one phone call, write a letter, write a chapter outline, go for a walk, do something...get out your plans, and to do lists....and do something
