Regrets - I've had a few

Monday morning, an entire week stretching ahead of you, a whole week that you can use to make huge gains in your projects and plans.
So – what have you done so far this morning?
Have you spent time catching up with your work colleagues? Did they have a good weekend? How about you, did you share the news from the weekend? How many cups of coffee have you consumed because of an over-indulgence in alcoholic substances over the weekend? Do you look as bad as you feel as a result?
Have you even looked at your daily planner yet today?
On Saturday I mentioned that you should have written down your “must do” items – as one of the last things you do before you leave the office. OK I should have mentioned this on Friday, but it wasn’t on my list so I “forgot” – but the reason why you should practice this, is so that when you start work every morning you know what it is you have to do. If it’s written down you don’t have to worry about trusting your memory, just losing the list. HINT – if it’s important and MUST be done, then schedule it into your electronic calendar, so that you can get an annoying reminder when you should be starting the job/task.
I am not aiming to make you feel guilty about chatting to your fellow workers, or drinking more coffee than your body needs or can safely process in a day. But I am asking that you take some time this morning and plan your week. Do you have any major projects that you need to spend time on? Do you have meetings that you need to go to? Have you scheduled some preparation time?
Don’t get to the end of the day filled with regrets about the work that you should have done. Because regrets are reinforcing double negatives that you haven’t done what you should have.
And if you are reinforcing the fact that you are a failure - you are less likely to get any work done tomorrow either.
