Do you get scared easily?

Do you get scared easily?

NO?

Then why haven't you done something / anything different lately?

Unless you are willing to challenge and question the stereotypical behaviours of societal expectations and what everyone else has planned for you, then you are not willing to take risks, ergo - you must be afraid.

Unless you are willing to quesiton, unless you are willing to start asking "why" - why me
why now
why don't you just shut up and let me get on with living my life...

then you will carry on doing the same things in the same way that you have always done.

Why is questioning a good thing?

Well if you don't question - then that must mean you are happy to sit back and let other people decide what you are going to do with your life. That's why!

When did you stop questioning anyway?

I can almost tell you the date, give or take a few years. It was the day you asked too many questions, and your parents told you to sit down, shut up and stop asking so many damned questions. Do you remember the day?

You had a million questions running through your mind, and the answers you were given would generate a million more. You were never satisfied with the glib answers provided by the taller people. You wanted to know why, how, what, where, when, what if... you did, didn't you?

So what happened to that inquisitive child?

I can almost guarantee you were made to conform, you were told to sit down, be quiet, watch the telly. Oh the damage we do to our children. Can you imagine what would've happened if the parents of the scientists did that to their offspring?
Where would we be?

We take so much for granted, but if we stop to think - just for a minute, we owe our current state of being to those people who were willing to question the stereotypes, and why can't it be done.

So a thought for today - is your current state of mind, body, place in life and society - because you stopped thinking of all the possibilities that are open to you?
