look at it this way

Welcome to today's issue of The Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine. The e-zine of Motivateme: Breaking the Procrastination Habit. http://www.motivateme.info. Have you signed up for your daily dose yet?
----------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever stopped to consider that what you see and perceive may not be the same as what others see?

No?

Well imagine that you are in a 4WD and you decide to slow down because of what is happening in front of you. You know exactly what is going on - because you can see it. But the guy in the mini driving too close to your bumper hasn't got a clue why you're stopping suddenly. A momentary lapse of concentration on his part and he could total himself and his car. Of course it could be argued that he shouldn't be driving that close to your rear end, but lets face it, few people actually leave a big enough gap between them and the car in front, and if they do, someone jumps into the spot you're trying to leave for safe breaking purposes.

Imagine our friend in the mini he came through the accident relatively unscathed, after all he's still alive, ok he might not be able to walk again, but you'd figure that he'd be OK getting around in a wheel chair. His able bodied friends and colleagues can get around easily enough, they don't mind negotiating steps, and getting around people is easy, they just go around them. But for our friend in the wheelchair - well all he can see is the butts in front of him. He can't tell if there is going to be an obstacle that he's going to have to negotiate. Now imagine he's got tickets to go to a concert. Going to a concert where people stand up means he gets little chance to see the band - just more butts.... Given that a lot of children are of a similar height to a person in a wheelchair, all of a sudden you may understand why being in a crowded place can be an absolute nightmare for "little people". Of course you can always pick "little people" up, it's not quite as easy for people who have to sit down all day.

Or can you imagine trying to describe colour to a person who can't "see", or a Brahms concerto if they can't hear?

For those of us with our bodies and senses intact, can you imagine what we could do - if we decided that we would use everything we had. How much could we accomplish if we appreciated just what we had, and utilised it all. Don't wait for a life changing event to make a difference to the way your life turns out. Make a difference now, but whilst you are doing that, spare a thought for those people who look at things in a different way to you.
