what would you do if you had to succeed?
Welcome to today's issue of The Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine. The e-zine of Motivateme: Breaking the Procrastination Habit. http://www.motivateme.info. Have you signed up for your daily dose yet?
----------------------------------------------------------
What would you do if you had to succeed. Because if you didn’t – you or a member of your close family was going to die?
What would you do?
I hope that you would do EVERYTHING In your power to make sure that you were going to succeed, that you found the right treatment – regardless of space, time or money. If you are like most people you would go to the ends of the earth, walk over hot coals, sell your house or whatever else it took. You have your goal, succeed or die. Your focus is crystal clear - sure you might have a moment or two of panic, but you would square your shoulders, grit your teeth and get on with doing what you had to. You would wouldn't you?
Do you know why most of us don't achieve what we say that we want to achieve? Because our dreams, goals and aspirations are not real to us, they are "ho hum, you know it would be nice if...."
They are not life or death decisions, they have no sense of urgency, and we do not CARE enough. If you can't see it, feel it, live it every single day, then chances are good you will quit at the first sign of adversity, or chocolate cake (depending on your particular goal).
Now I am not asking you to run around like a headless chuck (sorry "chicken" for those non-aussie readers) putting panic mode into everything you do. But what I am asking you to do today is to look at those things that you say you want, and I want you to assign a do or die rating to them.
If you don't give your "goal" a 7 or above - ie., you would go to the ends of the earth to achieve it - either modify your goal or don't bother.
7-10 = you really want this and you will do what it takes to get there. The higher the number the more likely you are to achieve it.
5-6 = a bit of effort to change the focus of these items and you will get there - eventually
3-4 = vague, wishy, washy dreams - not worth spending time on
0-2 = what are these items doing on your list? Stop dreaming and get doing.
