Personal Development - it's up to you

There are a lot of you who may be wondering why I decided to create this resource. Or it may not have occurred to you. You may have assumed that I had jumped on the self-help, personal development bandwagon to make a fast buck – and you’d be wrong….no money, fast or otherwise – but maybe one day!!

No the reason this started, was because of a friend in England. A friend who at the wrong side of 50 decided that he was out of work and likely to stay that way.

Working in the employment sector had given me quite a different view of the world and I suggested that perhaps the reason he wasn’t getting where he thought he should be, wasn’t because of his age, but other factors …..my friend needed reminding that he wasn’t over the top – by a long shot…so the “daily dose” was created.

I bullied, I prodded, I suggested, I gave him exercises to do. I made his life pure misery whilst he perfected his newly found zest for life.

And it worked. He did it all, and he did it all by himself if you think about it.

I could make all the suggestions in the world, but unless he was willing to put in the hard work, then nothing was going to change.

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to make a difference to the way your life turns out? Personal development means that you are working on you, yourself.

You will be pleased to know that I received an email from him a little while after I started to ask him to look at things in a slightly different way, he had his new job, and he hasn’t looked back since.

But you know what I think really made the difference – his attitude. He had reached the point where enough really was enough, and he was willing to try anything to change the way his life was working out. And that is what this web site, and the daily dose of motivational medicine is really about. Changing the way your life turns out – if you want to that is….and believe me when I say you have to really want to. Some things take time (try losing the last 5 kilos on a diet and you will know what I mean). Some times you want to give up and say to heck with it, I’ll stay where I am.

Well you’ve gotten this far, so welcome, and thank you for making the decision to try something just a little different. We have had a lot of new subscribers over the last week or so, thank you for passing on the information to your friends and anyone else you think is stuck in the sand dunes, spinning their wheels. We know what that’s like, we’ve been there after all.

A reminder that all back issues of the daily dose are available on the web site – http://www.motivateme.info/ezine-archive/ and there are lots of other ramblings, musings as well as hints and tips for getting out of doing those things you really don’t want to do. So if you haven’t checked back to the web site in a while, please be my guest….procrastinate a while – why not, it is Friday.

I’ll speak to you again over the weekend.
