Don't wind down for the Christmas break just yet

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning, I hope this finds you well and looking forward to another day filled with excitement and the thought that you can be anything you want to be.
Don't you just hate it when I start with the Polyanna bit??
Ah - but here is the thing, A couple of years ago I had the thought about creating this website and this resource. I had half written the book on overcoming procrastination....hmm I suppose really I should finish it one day (and no I am not joking - I have a cupboard full of unfinished manuscripts) but that's by the by. So why didn't I? Well it was something I read, that stopped me literally in my tracks....
I don't recall who wrote it, but it doesn't matter - it changed my way of thinking quite dramatically
"Don't attempt to motivate other people if you can't be bothered to get out of bed in the morning." There was another one that said something similar "Don't motivate others when you can't motivate yourself"
oops.
Never one for hypocrisy I decided that if I wanted you to become more, then I had to change me first. Only when I had changed my thinking, when I had thought about what I wanted and started to put into place the thought processes and behaviours could I then feel comfortable about helping other people. Now I am not saying I get my own thought processes right every day - I don't. Like all bad habits and behaiours they take time to get rid off.
So why am I telling you this? Well we have had quite a few new subscribers and I would just like to say welcome to you all, I'm glad you could join us. I would also like to say, that there will be times when you may feel that I am being downright annoying, reminding you to do more, be more. It's interesting I've had as many people unsubscribe as subscribe since this resource was first created. But that's OK, it means that the people (you) who are still reading this, are serious about how their lives turn out. Not everyone is...so welcome and I hope I can inspire you - just a little.
So what of today?
Well we have just 10 days left before we break up for Christmas (assuming you finish on the 22nd like most folk) 8 of which are working days....1 of those 8 is already half way through. Have you got a plan for what you want those 7.5 days to look like or are you going to drift along, telling yourself that you'll get started again in January when you've had a rest?
Hint, what happens if you don't make it to Janaury. It is sad statistic, but more people die on the roads through alcoholic related accidents than at any other time of the year. Now I am not saying that you are the one who will be drink driving (at least I hope not), but make sure you have adequate amounts of food in your system before you start. And don't drive if you are tired.
What would people say if they had to come into your office or your home and clear out the place for you after you had passed on? What would they find?
- Would they find a cupboard full of half finished manuscripts like mine?
- Are your bills paid and up to date?
- Do you have an up to date will?
- Are all those important documents relating to your house etc in one place so that people can find them without ripping your home to bits (to see what you've left them in your will!!)
Actually this last point is quite important. We are going into summer here in Oz and the bush fire season has already started. What would you pick up and leave if you had to go in a hurry? If your important (vital records) documents are in one place, it makes it a damn sight quicker to vacate your house.
And what about your work place? Does your office look like the roof has caved in?
Can you say at a glance where you are on your projects?
Do you have a daily task list waiting for you when you get into the office in the morning?(remember you should create this before you leave the office at night)
Do you know what you want to achieve in the next 12 months?
As we go through the next 10 days, why not see how many half finished projects you can finish.
Tidy up the office, put things away, start each new day with the knowledge and belief that you can do more than yesterday, and you will already be way ahead on the rest of your work colleagues who've already wound down for the christmas break.
