Goal Achievement: Visualise and you shall receive!

Goals:

Do you have them? Perhaps more importantly than whether or not you have goals is whether or not you believe in them, believe that you can achieve them, and will do everything in your power to reach them.
But why is that important?

Well can you imagine yourself being thin?

If you can then you are well on the way to actually getting there. But it is more than just "wishful thinking" that will get you to where you say you want to be.

You see, in order to reach your goal (whatever it happens to be), then you have to know the outcome in your mind, in advance. If you have never been "thin" then you may struggle with this kind of visualisation - however, there are some tips you can use.

Pick out a favourite outfit - it doesn't have to be one that you own - but is better if you do - now hang it up where you can see it. The door of the wardrobe is a great place. How do you think you will feel when you wear that outfit? What will you look like? Will you have a new hairstyle to go with it, what about new earrings and makeup? Create the new you in your mind's eye. Whenever you feel that your resolve is wearing a bit thin (and believe me it will), then simply replay that image in your mind. As long as you are on a sensible eating plan (ie., you are not following some fad diet or other) then you will reach your goal. The difference is, you will reach your goal quicker than those people who have no idea what they will look like when they get there. They don't know how far down the road they have travelled. Remember that if you are also exercising you may not lose "weight" on the scale, but your body will be trim and toned, and you will fit into your skin a lot better.
 
If you can't afford a new outfit just yet, then find some magazines and cut out some pictures and stick them onto a board. And just for effect cut out a picture of your own head and superimpose this onto the outfit....
 
Remember this visualisation trick can work for any of your goals. Work out exactly what you want - then take the steps you need in order to get there. And if you have a reminder to help you along the way then you will succeed far faster than if you have no idea what it was you wanted.
