Drowning the negative voices
Have you ever gotten so fired up about a project, you are so excited you can't wait to begin.
Until the voices start that is. The "procrastination pixies" sitting on your shoulder whispering in your ear - telling you that you've got to be joking, and who do you think you are. I used to think I was alone, I used to think I was the only one who had those kind of voices offering a commentary on everyone and everything, telling me that I was going to fail, so why not procrastinate for just a while longer, after all no-one would notice.
Thankfully I now know that I'm not the only one with "procrastination" sitting on their shoulder.
We all have the little blighters, hanging on for dear life. You see they are the ones that don't want you to change, and we allow them to rule our lives, whether we recognise it or not. They are the ones we listen to and then we wonder how we deal with procrastination.
So how do you handle them? Well you need to take them by surprise - I get my metaphorical ink pen and I squirt ink over my left shoulder which catches them square in the eye...as they are scrambling off my shoulder looking for a tissue to clean off the ink I can get on with what I need to.Sometimes it's the only way to beat procrastination.
What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
