It's a goal !!

When you set a goal - Do you keep track of your progress?

With any goal setting it is important to measure how far you have come and how far you've still got left to go, otherwise how do you know whether you are on the right track or not?

I don't know about you - but unless it is written down, I find it is easy to conveniently forget what you were supposed to do and when.

So how do we achieve our goals and keep track of our progress.

Well there are lots of ways to do it:

Do something small to do with the project/goal every day.

  • Write a page or two of your book,
  • Paint a wall of your house,
  • Weed one flower bed.

I have found that once you start something, you usually find the momentum will carry you forwards.

Believe in what you are aiming for. It is no good going after someone elses goals and dreams, how on earth can you get fired up about their goals? Get fired up about your own - that way you will find ways around those obstacles that have a nasty habit of appearing in your way.

Find your to do list and choose the hardest thing on it, and break down the item into small(er) manageable steps. Things you can tick off one by one. Again the momentum will move you forward. Or if the item is a one-shot deal - like phoning someone you don't want to...then simply pick up the phone and do it. The result will usually be far less stressful than the worst case scenario - and once it has been done, you will feel much better and able to get on with all those other minor tasks on your list.

Whatever strategy you use, make sure you keep a note of what worked and what didn't so you can refine your strategy. Remember - doing the same things in the same way will mean that you get the same results.
