Thursday - the wasted day of the week?

Thursday, it’s a bit of a strange day of the week don’t you think. Too far away from the beginning of the week for us to still be enthused about what the week has in store, and a day away from the start of the weekend. So what use is a Thursday really?

Actually, every Thursday that has gone past in a blur of anticipation for the following day is a day wasted. Think about it, each boring Thursday has 24 hours of untapped potential. 24 hours that you can use in any way that you want. After all it’s your 24 hours. No-one else has 24 hours exactly the same as you.

So why do we waste such a wonderful resource?

I think that some of the answer lies in how we plan our time. Did you start today with a proper plan? Or were you a little vague on the details? If I were to hazard a guess most people reading this would confess to not having made a plan, a to-do list, or any other kind of time management scheme. One question – then how on earth do you know where you are when you get to the end of this day? Are you on-track? Are you ahead or behind?

And yet another question for you on this Thursday – on track for what? Whilst we are on the subject of planning for a Thursday – the reason why we fail to plan for each Thursday, is because we don’t know what we want to achieve by the end of the day / week / year. We allow our days to drift along, thinking that we have hundreds of Thursday’s ahead of us. So we squander those precious 24 hours that we have been given.

One thing that I have noticed is that once we have a goal in our sights, then we fill each minute of the day with ways that will allow us to reach it. And not even a boring Thursday will stop us, why? Because there are no boring Thursday’s when you have a vivid goal in your sights.

So stop squandering time and start planning your future.
