Be outrageous

I was going to talk to you today about ways you can start to break through the procrastination habit, but then decided that can wait....yes ironic, but this thought has just occured to me.

I had to fetch a couple of stamps at lunch time today, and in order to get to the post office, I had to walk past a construction site. As usual the music was loud enough to merit the need for ear protectors. But what made me laugh out loud, was the very loud, very off key and very amusing chorus from the workmen. Obviously they were enjoying Bob Marley so much they decided to share it with the world. Well it made my day. Not that I'm keen on that particular song, you understand, just the impromptu karaoke session they were holding.

When was the last time you cranked the music up and sang so loudly you scared the local feline population? Or waltzed down the street to someone eles's music? When in fact did you last do anything so outrageous you can still recall the memory?

And how do you feel now when you think about it? Do you still colour with embarrasment? Or do you have a smile on your face as you think about it. I know I talk a lot about feelings don't I. But feelings are a key to breaking through the procrastination habit. If you are feeling good about who you are and what you are doing, then anything is possible.

I seem to have quite a few embarassing memories - there was the time when i was running up some stairs and I tripped over my feet and landed in an ungainly heap at the top. I still have the scars on my hands to prove it...but I have never laughed so much in my life. And then there are the "Because we can" parties. Once a year I throw a party - no special occassion - just because we can. And my friends must be as crazy as I am, because we've had kids parties for adults - everyone was given a new name and identity and they had to create the persona - and introduce themselves to everyone as their new selves....We had Poppy Seed, the Drug Baron - Ayr Force - US Airline Pilot, and my favourite - Hellen Damnation - Priest(ess).  Grown ups eating jelly and ice cream and creating the biggest playing card houses, and having easter egg hunts. Then last year we had a midnight feast - yep starting at midnight.

Why should we do stupid things?
Because we can.

I have a t-shirt that sums it up beautifully - it says (right above the red sequined lips) "Life is funny" and you know what - it is.

I hope your day is filled with fun and laughter - and lots of it.
