Today is the first day of the rest of your life
Oh no, cliche city....actually there is more than a grain of truth in a cliche, the wisdom of the world condensed into a few short sentences. They may be easy to remember, but most of the time, the true meaning has been lost.
But think about it. You cannot undo the past, the words that you have spoken, the actions that you have taken. The only thing you (and everyone else for that matter) can do is to understand that you cannot undo the past and to accept that today is the first day of the rest of your NEW life. You can learn from the triumphs of the past and the defeats you suffered yesterday, and then you can apply those techniques and those lessons to today....but unlike Bill Murray, you cannot relive yesterday as today.
But thinking about the movie Groundhog Day - personally I think it is the best movie to watch as someone has to relive the same day over and over and over again, until he gets it right.
So today you need to ask yourself....what can I do today that is better than yesterday?
Is it:
I can eat less junk food and more fruit and veggies
I can drink more water
I can drink less alcohol
I can go for a longer walk
I can say something nice to everyone I come into contact with
I can smile more
I can frown less
I can stop chewing my nails
I can stop worrying over the things I have absolutely no control over
I can tell my family that I love them
I can treat my body with respect
I can treat my mind with respect also by talking positively to myself and reading something powerful, something that makes me think differently
I can be whoever and whatever I want to be. I am only limited by my own imagination.
The thing is you really don't have to be the same person you were yesterday. Did you know that every cell in your body has been replaced hundreds of times since you were born. Well to give you a clue your spine is totally replaced every couple of weeks. The question is why then do I look the same? Well I feel it is because we imprint each cell with thoughts and the DNA from the old cell(s). The trouble is we interfere with the cells lifecycle by taking medications we don't need, filling our bodies and our minds with stimulants, depressants, alcohol, cigarettes and yes even caffeine. Each jolts the body at a cellular level (watch "What the Bleep do we know") but the biggest impact comes from the mind.
Today is important, because not only is today the first day of the rest of your new life, but today you are not going to settle for average. Average is everyone elses "normal". Today we are going to redefine our own definition of the term "normal". Don't settle for someone elses plan for your life...create your own remarkable life.
You note I used the term "can" in this newsletter.
Can means you will
Could means you may give it a go, but hey you might fail and that's ok...
Can means failure isn't an option
Hope you have a remarkable day.
