GO !!!!
Happy New Year, I hope you managed to get through the revelries unscathed and you are ready to tackle the start of the new year.
The 2nd of January marks the start of most people's working year, if that is you - then I hope you have a productive day, unlikely but we can hope.
Why unlikely? well if you don't spend some time today planning tomorrow, choosing your outfit, making sure you have lunch packed, change for the parking meter or bus fare, then you are going to start the new year trying to catch up with the last one.
And not only that, but you will need to catch up with a thousand emails, backlogs of mail, and of course the catch up chat with your colleagues. For me, the start of my working year is next monday (8th), and we have to rebuild offices, find the computers from under the dust of the office refit, before we can do anything.....so my working year will more likely be Tuesday or even Wednesday - half way through January and already behind.
But before I left, I made sure I had my project plans up to date and ready to go as soon as the computers were plugged in. How about you? Ready to start your new year with a bang, or are you more likely to begin with a whimper and a plea for people not to shout too loudly.
I hope you found time to plan the next few months, whilst you had the time to do it in. Because as you may have realised by now, failure to plan, means that you will get to the end of the first day, first week and first month without any idea of whether you are ahead or behind, like joining in a marathon mid way, you just don't know where you are or how far you have to go.
So take time to plan for tomorrow today, and you will be ready to start the new year with a smile, rather than a hurried dash around the house hunting for shoes, keys, bags and pens.
Elle
