-------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope this finds you enjoying the first day of your weekend....it's amazing how much stuff needs to be done on this day "off" isn't it....washing, cooking, cleaning, ironing, gardening, rest and recuperation, gym...whatever it is you are doing today, I hope you are enjoying it.
And enjoyment is important when it comes to goal setting and more importantly goal achievement - if you don't enjoy the journey are you really going to enjoy the end result? Or are you going to "hate" it - whatever "it" is once you have gotten there? After all if you whinge, whine and complain along the way, you are hardly going to change your patterns of behaviour when you get there now are you.
So - when you are deciding on those things that you say you want to do and achieve, you have to determine if you are doing it out of obligation, a sense that you "have" to do it, or are you doing it because you want to...the more you "want" the more likely you are to get. Now remember I am not talking about wanting without doing, more a feeling, a determination that says I can do this, I really can.
And then do it with a smile on your face.
Goal achievement starts with the belief that you can do it.
That you are "worthy"
That the item you are planning on spending time and energy on is "worth it"
But it also comes with a risk, after all you are going to need to change certain behaviours in order to get there. If you are overwight and unfit, then you are going to have to believe that you can be healthier and smaller. So when you are setting the new eating disciplines or the patterns for exercise into your daily regime, you may need to distract yourself. So ensure that you have lots of things to do to keep your mind off the fact that you need to lose weight and onto the fact that the house is a complete tip and needs cleaning, or you haven't written to your mother in a month....
Another good way to ensure you don't break your new habit is to not buy it in the first place. Not only will your bank balance be much improved - if it isn't in the house you can't consume it, or you have to make a special journey to go fetch and sometimes it just isn't worth getting the car out....
Don't go to where the temptation is....or if you do go, "forget" to take money or credit cards with you.
And until you set the new patterns in place, it is worth not taking a day off...do the same things day after day for a few weeks....and then once your mind knows the rules, then give it a day off....
Something to think about at any rate...
