Is money on your new years resolutions list?
Followed by contacting the agencies to see what is available. Hint - if they don't know you are looking for work, they can't contact you now can they!!
It is important to make sure you have a variety of CV's and resumes ready just in case that perfect job comes up. Why not a one size fits all? Well - a couple of reasons, not everyone needs your entire life history (CV) so a resume will do. However, some jobs insist that you apply online - the reason being - is so they can weed out those people who do not meet their selection criteria - and this is usually done by software....therefore you will need to make sure you have the right mix of keywords and phrases in your documents otherwise you will receive a thanks but no thanks letter in the not too distant future.
So when planning for your future and money is quite a large motivator for some people, then you need to plan your days and how you are going to tackle the issue of getting "more" money. Days that aren't planned usually end up disappearing faster than .... you get the picture. But you need to structure your day properly, otherwise your to do list will look like a shopping list - everything everywhere and no idea which aisle you should be going down first.
So, those things that you should do first are those things that are likely to bring in the money - quickly. Hence the job applications, follow up phone calls, surfing the job sites, networking.
The second items on the list should be those that have a longer span to bring you money, namely work on that web site or book you've been writing. Articles that you need to write and submit, turn into a give away for your network marketing opportunities. Creation of a newsletter to promote your services - again give them something of value and they will ask you to do business with them. As with all these items on the second half of the list – long term strategic planning can pay off. But you can also spend a lot of time without seeing much in the way of instant pay back.
The next set of important items are those things that are always important - but never urgent. Eating well, exercising, spending time on you. Even if it is only a walk around the block to clear the cobwebs before settling down to work on the next set of important tasks.
The last items on your daily to do list are those items that we always like to do because they are the ones that we enjoy doing but get us little return, or they are necessary things, like dishes, washing and ironing, rearranging the items on our desk top, writing emails to friends.
