Dealing with adversity
I have noticed over the last couple of days, that my messages are taking quite a while to reach me....yes I send these messages to myself so that I can monitor whether you are receiving yours or not. In talking to my partner he happened to mention that one of the biggest spam attacks was under way and the subject line - which has always started in the same way - may be causing a few problems. So a couple of things. Could you please ensure that you add elle@motivateme.info to your white list. And the daily dose of motivational medicine email subject header lead in will forever be known as The DDOMM.
Thanks and regards

Now onto today's edition
Dealing with adversity:
How you handle adversity is one of the keys to overcoming the procrastination habit. If you cannot get up after a failure, and start the process of change again, you are going to be telling yourself that you are a victim. A victim of change, of circumstances, things like that always happen to me, it's not fair.
No it's not - get over it. Adversity happens to the best of us, it's how you handle it that matters. I am now into my third week of tonsillitis. Energy is at an all time low, but I get up every day and I start the process all over again. Certainly for the first couple of days when the doctor told me to go home, go to bed and give my body a chance to heal, I did exactly that. But then I made sure that I got up and worked as normal. I was told it could take a couple of weeks for my body to deal with the underlying infection (BTW did you know your tonsils are your first line of defence? me neither) - now I could have waited for a couple of weeks before starting again, but I didn't. Now you may not think that tonsillitis could be classed as adversity, but for someone who is as fit as I am, and constantly on the go, it is a BIG deal to have to deal with. I don't do illness.
And therein lies the second key, what you may find difficult - someone else would have no problem with at all, and vice versa. So one thing to remember, you do not have to do it alone. There are many people who have been there and done that before you, so why not take advantage of the fact. Of course you may not like the advice you've been given. But if that advice has worked in the past for someone else, then it stands to reason that it should (if followed properly) work for you too.
Deal with what you can deal with today. Do all that you can do today and the tomorrows will take care of themselves. Of course it also helps to have some long term plans in place so that you know where you are supposed to be heading, but you can only focus on one decision at a time. And whilst I think I can multi-task with the best of them, in reality all I am doing is making a series of very fast decisions and allowing those decisions to manifest whilst I am making others.
So how do you handle adversity?
