You don't need eyes to see, you need vision
I have said to you a few times that your mood shows in the words that you write. Well a brilliant example came to me this morning. One of the regular readers of the daily dose said that he had taken a suggestion to eat better and exercise a little more and so far had managed to drop 9lbs. How awesome is that? I am completely overcome by the dedication someone has taken. One suggestion and look at the difference. A whopping 9lbs of difference. Just think what we can all do if we decide to take one tiny step today and another tomorrow at where we will end up.
But the point was the words that he had chosen to use. You could tell he was pleased as punch (and quite rightly so) from the choice of words, and the absolute pleasure he took in telling me of the achievement of the goal. Goal achievement should be like that. A pleasure, a joy, a realisation that you have put in the hard yards and the results are plain to those who care to look.
Which brings me nicely to today's topic. To see the future clearly, you don't just need eyes, you need vision. The quote came to me last night courtesy of a group of musicians / artists called Faithless.
How do you gain vision?
Well it starts by opening your eyes to the wonder that is around you.
But it really begins when you start to notice that what you have been doing in the past is wandering down dark alleys, round and round on the same roundabout (turning circle) going nowhere fast. Why? because you don't know where you really want to go that's why.
Whilst you can as Jack Canfield says drive from New York to LA in the middle of the night, only being able to see the next 100 metres in front of you. It does help to know where you are really going. Because if you fail to see the sign posts you might end up in Canada.
You see, you had your eyes open, but you didn't "see"
So, know where you want to end up at the end of the day / the week / the goal. What do you want to look like, what do you want to be wearing when you get the presentation. Where do you want to live? How much money do you want to be earning? Who do you want to help in order to reach that kind of monetary goal? It all takes "vision". Being clear about what you really want, not just what is in front of you right now.
