From despair to hope
Perspective, hindsight and experience is a wonderful thing to have. It's so easy to say - "If only I knew then what I know now, things would have been so different." But have you ever stopped to consider that you are the person you are today precisely because of those things that have tested you?
- Would you appreciate the warmth of summer if you had never experienced a cold, dark, wet winter?
- Would you know the good times if you had never had some bad ones? Of course what constitutes either will differ from one person to the next and one day to the next, I know that. But speaking in general terms - would you be able to tell the difference between the two if you had only lived your life in monotone, 2-dimensions?
Have you noticed though, if you've ever been down or depressed it can be hard to imagine, or remember the good times. We feel that the "good times" won't come back. We sink into the black hole and let despair wash over us.
What we should remember is that life is full of cycles.
As you know, day follows night, winter follows summer and autumn. And good can follow bad - if you let it.
We are coming up to a very stressful time of the year for everyone. Huge demands placed on parents to provide bigger and better "things" than last. Cooking dinner for a million people who arrive unexpectedly on your doorstep.
So a gentle reminder as we move into the festive season.
Christmas comes but once a year - so be grateful, accept that some things just are, and you will come out of it the other end with a smile on your face.

Thank you for the thank you, it is wonderful to know that the daily dose continues to help, inspire, prod, cajole and occasionally ask you to do something. I must admit that I enjoy writing these daily messages because they also inspire me to be better today than yesterday.
Hope the rest of your day continues to be full of joy
Kind Regards
Elle
