Excuses are for lazy people

Every time you make an excuse about why you didn't do something, you are admitting that:

. You didn't have the guts to say no to the task when you were asked to do it. Sometimes other people try and offload their tasks onto us so they can get out of doing it themselves. If you don't have time, then say so. If you do have time and you say yes, then get on and do it, don't grumble, gripe or whine.
. You didn't manage your time properly to cope with the amount of work that you had been assigned to do.
. You kept throwing rocks into your path (see yeserday's edition).
. You pretend you had to do other things first....especially true if you don't like the task you have to do. We can all be good at doing nothing in particular. One guy I know - who shall remain nameless would sooner put up shelves in his new building than get on the phone to clients.
. You leave everything half finished and then explain you can't finish something because you've got so much to do.

If you really want to get on - then stop making excuses. Accept responsibility for where you are and what you have not yet done, and then take steps to rectify the situation. In other words, stop blaming other people, and circumstances for where you are in your life and get stuck in. Accept that one day you are going to die, and then ask yourself - are you willing to die today having left all those jobs half finished?
