When you believe, you will achieve

If you believe in what you want, you will almost always achieve what you set out to do. Why almost always? Well sometimes we get to a point and discover that we don't need to go as far as we thought we did. Or we may decide that we didn't set our sights high enough, so we will move onwards, further than we had anticipated.

But if you don't believe, or have the odd lingering doubt about an aspect of whatever it is you say that you want, then you will have limited success. As we discussed yesterday, if you start with a positive, but add the because, or the word but to the end of the sentence, you don't really believe you are going to get it.

The why's are interesting.

We may think we don't deserve it - says who? You deserve everything that you work for.
We may think we aren't worthy - again, says who? You can use your negative past as a spring board to your positive future, or you can let the negative past hold you in the past. Never getting out of the mental state that has held you rigid for the last x years of your life. I know someone like that, too busy going back over the old hurts, the pain, the who did what and why that they are totally incapable of enjoying the now. And if you can't enjoy the now, well you certainly won't be able to enjoy tomorrow - will you.

I had an interesting discussion with someone the other day, he said that he wanted his football team to win so badly, that he focussed all his positive energy onto the game. And they still lost. How? He wanted to know?

Well there are several things wrong with that particular practice. The first one that I mentioned was that - he didn't really believe his team could win. Yes he desperately wanted them to win, but he knew they just weren't capable of doing so. So his positive thoughts, were drowned by the doubt.

The other major point in this is that you can only influence your own behaviour, you cannot influence everyone elses behaviour simply with the power of your thoughts. No-one is that influential.

Yes you can lead by example, you can fire up your team of players, but unless everyone on your team is willing to believe in themselves, their skills, their abilities and the skills and abilities of their team mates, they might as well have their own game of football going on, because they are not pulling in the same direction.

For example, if you don't think Fred is going to stop the ball, and you mutter loudly that Fred is the worst goalie your team has ever had, guess what - Fred is probably going to think to himself that - they're right, I can't save goals, especially when the defenders are rubbish, they don't give me any support. How am i supposed to save goals when they're standing around yakking. What happens then is that Fred has the worst possible game of the entire season, and is ready to quit at the end of the game. Fulfilling the prophecy everyone had decided in advance.

So imagine what the power your thoughts can have if you are in total alignment with your skills, abilities, desires, needs and BELIEF. And imagine how your team can win if everyone believed in themselves.

How do you get everything into alignment - well as we discussed in yesterday's edition. Belief stems from thoughts, and thoughts into actions and words. If you don't believe, you will find a way of negating the words, reinforcing the actions and ultimately the beliefs.

So it is vital that you remove the negative words from your vocabulary. And some of the biggest words you need to get rid of are - Because and But.

I don't mean to criticise - BUT
I want to be rich and famous - BECAUSE my folks have always been poor.

Every time you utter those words you give your belief a knock.

So, stop it. Right this minute....or I'll be round.
