Kick start your goal achievement in 2008

The only way you are going to achieve anything different - is to do things in a different way.

Which is rather stating the blindingly obvious - but - what is interesting is that we become blind to the fact that we need to do things in a different way, we forget to see what we should be seeing and we overlook those things that are staring at us in the face.

Simple case in point - When was the last time you walked through your house and noticed what was lying on the floor, the kitchen counter, the books on the bookshelf, the clothes in your cupboard?

What about the chips in the paintwork and the dripping faucets? You noticed them once upon a time, because you were going to do something about them. But after a little while, we get programmed to seeing them, our minds "forget" that we were supposed to do something about them and focus on everything else.

It doesn't matter what it is, if you don't pay any attention to "it" you will soon overlook "it".

If you don't work on your goals today, you will soon forget that you were supposed to be making some changes. Our habits take over again, and sure enough before the end of next week you will be back into the old ways and routines you were convinced you were going to change. Don't believe me? Well how many of you worked on your goals today? Be honest - did you get up this morning with a burning desire to strap on your metaphorical (or actual) running shoes and get stuck into your goal list. Or is the piece of paper you've written your half-hearted wish list on turning yellow and curling at the edges?

THis is why most New Year's Revolutions fail. They fail because we don't work on them. They fail because they don't excite us, we stagger out of bed and into the shower, go to work and before you know it, another day has passed in a blur of - what exactly?

So - assuming you still have your goal list handy, I would like you to get it out and have another good look at it.

What did you say you wanted to achieve?
How excited are you about achieving said item?
What difference would it make to you if you did succeed?
What would your world look like?
What would your world look like if you didn't achieve them?

Now write down the answers to those questions and see if that makes a difference to kick starting your goal achievement for 2008.
