Don't put off the hated tasks

---------------------------
Today's daily dose: Motivate Me at Work: Stop procrastinating over the little tasks
---------------------------
Phone calls, there are some calls we just don't want to make. Our stomachs churn, we avoid looking at the instrument of hate and we fill every moment of our day with other stuff - even stuff we know doesn't need doing. Why? Because we are afraid of the ramifications of making that phone call.

Now what would happen if we didn't hesitate over that particular task. In fact it was the first thing we did when we got to the office? We picked up the phone, dialled the number and stated our purpose firmly, clearly and precisely. We didn't get mad, angry or upset, we acted in a professional manner and it paid off for us. Why? because we put their needs first as well. You respected their time as well as your own. You respected their needs as well as your own. And you got the outcome you wanted.

And guess what - you also got the dreaded task out of the way, leaving you a completely clear conscience and able to get on with all those other things you need to do today.

And of course it doesn't have to be phone calls, but personal - face-to-face meetings, emails you need to send, letters you know you need to write. We've all done it, delayed doing things we think are going to be massive issues. And they might be. But once you have made a firm commitment to clear up the problem, we can usually finish the task and quickly.

So, make the commitment to yourself today and clear up your problems first.

It is eerie how spot on your topics are sometimes! Just yesterday I was journaling about my fear to face phone calls. It's silly, but it's real. When I just do it and get it out of the way, the outcome is rarely as bad as what I imagine and I feel a whole lot more relaxed the rest of the day. Thanks for the encouragement and motivation!

Ah, now does that make me psychic or just going through the same kinds of issues you are going through?

But I'm glad it struck a chord, and I'm glad you found strength from the words and hope you have been able to deal with whatever problem you are currently facing.

All the very best
