Assisting people do great things

---------------------------
Today's daily dose: Assisting people do great things
---------------------------
Today's daily dose of motivational medicine is a little different. I read a lot of material from other people in what I term, the industry of assisting people do great things. Today I was fortunate to read something from my "wingman" Lt. Col. Rob "Waldo" Waldman - he started his newsletter with these words...

"I've been getting countless e-mails and newsletters this past week from coaches and consultants capitalizing on the downturn in the market.

Their message is fear based. "The dow is down again, it's scary out there, layoffs are rampant!" Then they offer a $1,995 weekend seminar on wealth building or business growth that will solve all of your problems. These "compassionate coaches" become opportunistic vultures praying on the carcass of your fear.

Give me a break! "

Of course he carrieson, and if you would like to get some help and assistance from your wingman then visit - http://www.yourwingman.com/

I just had to respond to him, because I am in total agreement with everything he had to say. My message to him went like this

Hi Rob

Thank you so much for saying that...

It never ceases to amaze me how many "snake oil" salesmen there are out there - offering YOU the chance to line THEIR pockets.... thank you for being one of the few people - like me - who believe in offering truth rather than false hope and false promises, and offering valuable solutions to people, often for nothing more than a thank you....which can be some of the best thanks and payment a person can get.

So thank you, I really do appreciate today's message.

Yours Sincerely

Of course I also sent the comment to some good friends of mine. One of whom responded - and I also include with her permission - her response.

"How damn true! I've just had a conversation with someone in my office this morning about people jumping on the band wagon and trying to get something from other people without ever considering the value and credibility of what they're trying to sell. I read a book several years ago, the name of which has temporarily escaped me, but essentially it was saying that success in business and life is dependent not upon your business plan that revolves around profit making but dependent on your life plan that revolves around serving people. Profit comes as a by product of genuine service to others.

Elle, that book you recommended to me a few weeks ago, The Go-Giver talked about the same kind of principle. I've read it, lent it to others, encouraged others to read it and in fact had a call from a business friend last week saying they'd brought it read it and were blown away by it. This concept of selling to people to make a quick dollar isn't the right way to go. Life is about people, not about dosh so if we make dosh (and isn't that lovely!) if we genuinely serve people then great but our aim MUST be to serve people with quality products and services and then the profits come...

Big smiles,

Ziggy

So a challenge for everyone in the business of making money - please don't forget to offer service first, second and last. The more service you can offer to people, the more genuine recompense you can receive.

With love and light - and many thanks
Elle
