Cleaning the clutter: Minds

Today's daily dose: Cleaning the Clutter: Minds
---------------------------
What are you filling your mind with?
What do you read? Listen to? Watch on the television?
What are your thoughts saying right now? With a bit of luck of course you are reading this and thinking about those questions I've just asked. But lets take it a little further. What do your thoughts generally say? We are constantly talking to ourselves. We "speak" thousands and thousands of words to ourselves each and every day....in general terms, would those words you are speaking to yourself positive or negative? Listen in to your personal conversations - it can make fascinating listening.
And to turn the negative to positive?
Be mindful of what goes into your mind. Don't watch the news or listen to commercial radio - they enjoy sensationalism. The more gruesome the story the better as far as they are concerned. Bad news sells.... lots. It's the same with magazines and newspapers - they thrive on gossip - the juicier the better.
And of course its the same with soaps...they're drama's ... they want to suck you in, so the first thing you say to your work colleagues when you get in is - did you see so and so on the tv last night....shocking wasn't it.....
For those of you who know me well, will know I watch little or no television. The occassional news bulletin, or tv program, but in general terms, my life does not revolve around what's on the television next. I have way too much to do every day and night for that to happen.
It's 8.30 on a Friday evening and I am sending this message out. Followed by answering emails and queries. The boys are planning an early morning jaunt to the city for their skate boarding and the girls are enjoying the "who wants to be a supermodel" show...so my house is one of constant noise, so you can imagine what my mind is being filled with. But in normal circumstances I prefer music to television and bird song to music. So if my little people were at dad's this weekend I would be enjoying the sound of silence, and able to read and / or write. But for tonight I am going to have to put in the ear phones if I am going to get anything done..or I can just give it away for tonight and start again tomorrow. And sometimes that's OK too.
So why am I spending so much time talking about cleaning and tidying - EVERYTHING?
Apart from the fact that it's Spring down under - every day is a chance to take a look at your life and what you are happy to keep and what you need to remove from your life and minds and bodies. For me it is a constant process. What's working? What isn't working? What am I happy to keep and what do I need to remove.
With love and light and many cleaning opportunities
With many thoughts
