Creating balance
Today is a good day to see if you're life is in balance. Well actually any day is a good day to make a brief check that all is well in your particular world. But a weekend is a perfect time to take stock of the last week to see if you achieved what you said you wanted to achieve, and how you feel as a result.
Jim Rohn calls it "playing the tapes again".
So - get your pen and paper at the ready, your major goal lists and any journals and time logs you have completed.
Or do you really trust your memory that much?
First though a quick mental check. On a scale of 1 (did absolutely nothing) to a 10 - nope can't fit any more into my working week - rate your week on a general level.
Now add a few more things to the list of things you need to run through.
- How was your diet?
- How much exercise did you do?
- How much leisure time did you have?
- How many books (or chapters of books / articles) did you read?
- How much time did you spend with your family? Friends?
- How much money did you earn?
- How much did you spend?
- Did you spend more than you earned last week?
- Did you save any? Money that is?
- Did you pay your bills on time?
- Did you remember all the birthday's and anniversary's you were supposed to remember?
- Did you remember to call the folks?
- How much sleep per night did you get - is it enough?
- How much work did you do?
- Did you manage to do anything towards your goals this week?
Every day is a chance to do better than yesterday, but you have to have some kind of measure.
And now can you see why I asked if you thought your memory was THAT good !!
I've kicked in a new diet this week - and because I am watching the caloric input - I can immediately see why I've been unable to lose any weight. Yes I was eating healthy foods before - just too many of them. A week of proper measures and I can tell immediately how well I am doing...4lbs and counting. And yes I know most of that will be fluid to start with, although you'd never know with the amount of water i've been consuming. Before I was just guessing that I was doing OK, now I know I am.
Do as Jim says and run the tapes of your performance again. And make any changes you feel are necessary to make next week even better than this one.
With many thoughts
