Spending time with those you care about
In the mad rush up to Christmas you may neglect a few things and / or people. You say "ah well, that happens sometimes". Well yes it can if you're not prepared, and yes it can if you're not willing to compromise. We all have a lot to do between now and then, but one thing I will say which bears repeating mantra like - we only have this moment guaranteed to us. Tomorrow? Well who knows about tomorrow. Whilst it is always a good thing to get the tomorrow's lined up, you do need to make time in your calendar for those things that are important to you....today.
Have you told your significant other how much they mean to you? Today? What about your children, grandchildren, parents, friends, co-workers? If you have a personal belief system, have you spent some time reconnecting with that significant power? You should you know. It can only take a few minutes to reconnect with those people who are the world to you, but the feelings we get a) when we do it and b) when it happens to us are long lasting. It means you were thoughtful and / or thought about. It means you care and are cared for. It means "everything" when you stop and think about it, far more so than the new "thing" you just purchased.
I have a file of things that mean a lot to me, and I like to reconnect to these things because they do many things for me - for instance, destressors when I am feeling particularly rushed. Things that make me smile when I need a lift. Things that make me think and re-think about who and whatI am, and what I have been put on this earth to do. And occassionally I will share one of those personal treasures with you. And today - when all around we are hearing about job losses and economic this and sharemarket that - is important to spend a few minutes and reconnect with our higher powers.
