Planning and preparation

Getting yourself organised the night before can save endless frustration in the morning, especially at this time of the year. Several times now I have had to double back because I've forgotten to do something. Simple lists are OK, they're even better if you look at them.

Prepare lunches, organise school bags and briefcases. Get clothes ready - including shoes, stockings and accessories. Gents this goes for you too - how many times have you mislaid the tie you were going to wear? It's also a good time to rub a polishing brush over your shoes. Remember first impressions count and clean shoes are the biggest indicator of whether or not you give a damn about yourself. If you take care with your appearance, your clients and customers will know you have attention to detail, something sadly lacking in a lot of customer service experiences.

You can guarantee if you don't organise yourself the night before, you will find the outfit you were hoping to wear will have lost a button or you will discover the hem is down. You were going to fix it after washing / cleaning but you forgot and hung it up again (been there and done that a dozen times).

It really does only take a few minutes of extra thought and preparation time, but can save yourself time and tantrums if you do this not only for yourself but for any "littlies" you have.

And one final thought for today, leave yourself a little extra time to counter the huge queues in the stores.

With many thoughts

Being a chap, I always prepare my clothes for the next day before I go to sleep. Everything is there, tie etc as its amazing how bad your colour co-ordination is in the morning when you are half asleep. I also get my breakfast laid out and sandwiches prepared in the fridge. All of this helps me to get up, get ready and leave for work with the minimum of fuss and grief.
