In the moment

With goal setting and goal achievement, we have a clear vision of what it is we want to achieve. We know that if we do x, y and z for long enough then sooner or later we will have what it is we said we wanted. But in looking so far into the future, sometimes we forget that "now" is the only moment we've got. But what are we doing with that moment? More often than not, your mind is off - going over old ground, old arguments, regrets about things not done, or off into the future, must remember to do so and so....and what happens if....

Well, some things to stop and consider

As you are sitting here reading this I would like you to take a moment and ask

. What can I feel?
. What can I see?
. What can I touch?
. How do I feel?
. What can I hear?
. What can I smell?

For me I can hear a fly buzzing around the house, a car that needs its exhaust fixing, a bird chirping outside, the hum of the computer, my fingers on the keyboard, my stomach rumbling.

I can feel the sun on my skin through the window, i can feel my forehead frowning....

I can smell incense and black tea

It may not seem like a lot, but it's an instant way of grounding yourself, of de-stressing, of enjoying the moment - whatever it is, experiencing it, revelling in it.

Some people call it, stopping to smell the roses, but i think this is a better way to describe it.

The following quote was sent to me, so i thought i would pass it on

Don't just do something, sit there.

For me I can hear The clock on the wall ticking, smell the cloths in the dryer drying, notice the shade of light as the sun comes up, hear the reduced sound of traffic miles away and the dog walking around up stairs and the children and dogs in the neighborhood beginning there day as I wind my day down to go to sleep.

It allows me to feel good and know the world is right, and should any of this become improper I will usually rise out of sleep and determine what has changed and does it need my action.

Thanks for verbalizing that for me. I have tried to explain all of this over the years to others, yet few "get it".

I knew I wasn't the "only".
