Elle - Motivate Me DDOMM - Issue 17/07

Are you the kind of person who has a "can do" attitude? You know, when someone walks up to you and asks - can you do something for me? Are you the kind person who responds with an "of course I can"?

Now of course there are people who will take advantage of people who "can do" and do it well, but if you have the proper "can do" attitude, you will be able to say - Of course I can, I just have to finish .... first. Is that OK? That alerts the person to the fact that you have your own work priorities and you can help, but not to the detriment of what you should be doing.

Or are you the kind of person who snarls and whines when someone asks you to do something? "If I must" is the usual catchall phrase used by this kind of person. There's also a lot of sighing, pouting and complaining about the fact you've got all this work to do and now so and so wants to give you more...who do they think they are????

In my opinion, the people with the can and do attitude are more likely to happier about themselves, their jobs, their homelives, have better health and eat better than those who have a could and don't attitude. Why? because they know good time and project management, it is part of their normal lives, they know whether they have "spare" time and they know how to turn down a request politely.

So today is an attitude check day - are you the kind of person who can and does, or could and doesn't?

As always something to think about

Elle
