Don't stop studying
Regardless of who you are and how old you happen to be, there is always room for "new" things in your life.
With the growth of the Internet, there is so much to see, read and absorb than ever before. I remember growing up - computers were the realms of nerds, and I NEVER thought I would be clever enough to be able to use one, let alone create software coding, websites and databases. Today of course, kids almost the world over know how to use and exploit computers and their network connections to find and use the information there is available.
There is one MINOR problem with this of course. Well, more than one problem - but we'll focus on the important one - (in my humble opinion) - what do you read first? There is just so much available nowadays - it's a case of what don't you read, so you can read more of what is important to you.
So a suggestion - remember your medium to long term goals - what do you want to do / be / achieve ? Then make sure your reading material can support what it is you want. It can be so easy to get caught up in reading for reading sake it can be hard to stay focused.
So another word on reading - make a note of those important items that pass through your mind, into your conscious thought processes. I keep a journal of good ideas, of thoughts, questions and quotes I find and read. But then I add a few more thoughts - how does this affect what I am planning on doing? How can I leverage what I currently know, with what I have just learnt? How will my new found knowledge help me do my job tomorrow / help me create a new life for me in the future?
And you thought reading was just a passive experience didn't you. Well, I don't call reading "studying" for nothing, because life is a study if you want to learn from your mistakes and move forwards.
How do you read? And more importantly what do you do with your new found knowledge?
As always something to think about.
