Today's daily dose: Changes to government
---------------------------
Unless you have been living in a cave or at the bottom of a pond, you will have noticed there is a series of elections going on. Political candidates of every persuasion (especially in Australia where I am based) advising us, the electorate they are the BEST and we must vote for them if we want to live a better life.
Now I am not trying to say these people don't have a role to play in how our countries are run, they do. How much tax we should pay, making sure the environment can sustain us for a little while longer and there are enough schools to educate our children and hospitals to care for our sick. But these people who form government do not have the power to decide what kind of life I am going to live. I am the only person to decide that. It is up to me how to behave, what I say, what I think, how much I should eat and drink, how much I earn and where I live. How I bring up my children to behave and live, how many businesses I own and run, how much exercise I do and who we elect to make sure our needs in the wider sphere are met.
Yes governments play a part - of course they do. But don't lose sight of what you can do - for you. Once you realise you have that kind of power over yourself, you will go very far indeed.
With many thoughts
Elle
