Unexpected windfalls

Today's daily dose: Unexpected windfalls
---------------------------
What would you do if you found a hundred dollar bill on the floor?

Would you spend it? On what?
Would you give it away? To whom?
Would you save it? All of it or just some of it?

What you do with unexpected windfalls says a lot about the kind of person you are.

If you spend all you receive, you will never have anything left for the "bad" times.
If you save all you receive, you will live your life in misery...where do you think the word "miser" comes from?

Now what would you do if you saw a small coin? What would you do with it? Would you pick it up? Or would you leave it on the floor?

I pick them up.

I consider the way I handle the small bonuses to be the learning mechanism for the bigger ones when they come along.

Have a plan for the smaller amounts and you will be able to adapt your plan for when the larger amounts start to appear.

I have found many things over the years. And yes I have picked up money off the street...not quite the $100 but that doesn't matter.

What do I do with it?

Well I consider myself to be quite fortunate, so I always give the "found" money away. I consider money to be energy. If it's sitting doing nothing, then sooner or later the source will dry up. My children are sometimes recipients, especially of larger amounts...but the smaller ones added up means several charities have benefited from my good fortune.

But it doesn't have to be money. Do you say thank you for the good things in your life? I personally think you should, after all, you are more likely to receive more if you say thank you for those things you have already gotten and received. But I am also of the opinion that you get as much pleasure from the giving as you do the receiving.

But that's just me.

So think about what you would do if you received an unexpected windfall and then when it does happen - do it and enjoy whatever you have decided to do.

Nice sentiment - but would you really give away the hundred dollars you just found?

OK, call me cynical - but I must ask the question...I don't know anyone who is rich enough to give away that kind of money

Hi JT
Thank you for your comment. I have never found a hundred dollar bill, but twice I have found $10 and I have split the proceeds with my kids. But yes I would give them the money if I found a hundred. They deserve it. And I consider myself to be rich in so many ways, not always in the bank account, but blessed nonetheless.
All the best

I think I get what you're saying, and I totally agree agree that money has energy, but any time I find money I take it into the business I found it in front of and tell the clerk or manager where I found it and leave it with them in case the real owner comes back. I mean, I know for a fact it is not mine - though I've never been tested with a $100 bill - and I don't want or need negative energy from keeping something that is not mine - if the clerk decides to pocket it - then that's their bad energy/karma - not mine.

Hi Laure
Ah, this is something different entirely. If it's obvious where it's come from (or likely to have come from) then it is always given back to the owner...similarly if I found it in a shop I give it up (including glasses, jewellery and bags) small coins I always dump in any collections jars/tips.
One day a guy in front of me pulled a wad of money out a back pocket and dropped a $50 - so i tapped him on the shoulder and gave it back - he didn't even say thank you !!
And yes I agree entirely with the karmic energy of things.
