Chicken catcher wins dream gig

It's not very often I watch television, but I do love watching "talent shows" and especially the "add name of country" 's got talent program. We always speculate as to whether one countries top 10 would make another countries top 100 - but that's really missing the point of what these shows are about.

These shows pit frisbee catching dogs against dancing street kids against opera singing cancer survivors and unemployed chicken catchers.

What makes these people want to prove to the world they have what it takes to be a star? To be the best in the country and to win the prize?

Apart from talent, drive, ambition and enough guts to get up in front of thousands of people and three judges with very big buttons who can make or break your chance in an instant. As the un-talented find out all too quickly. But even the un-talented get their moment of glory - because they also think they have what it takes to go all the way.

We can make all the excuses in the book and then add a few more - but not these people who put their "normal" lives on hold to take a shot at what they've always dreamed of doing. And for Kevin Skinner he proved to the American public he had what it took to make it all the way to the top. Yes he may have been overshadowed by another person on the night - but Kevin Skinner, the unemployed chicken catcher and farmer from Kentucky will be able to live his dream. He has achieved his goal - and what an amazing goal it is to have achieved. And if you have no idea who I am talking about - youtube will come to the rescue of course.

With many thoughts

100 day goal achievement challenge:
---------------------------
Are you beginning to take short cuts? Why are you not being true to yourself?

It can be so easy to do a little less than you said you were going to do. I am coming back after having the flu. Every day the virus manifests itself slightly differently - for the last two days I've been excruciatingly tired. Add in a coughing fit at 2am that woke me up and you can imagine what my motivation was like when it was time to get up, get ready and go to the gym.

But my two main areas for the challenge and beyond are:

Health and money

Health:
Lose a couple of dress sizes so that not only do I fit into my clothes better BUT I don't have to buy bigger clothes. Believe me with a budget as tight as mine, that's one expense I don't need. But with the better size and shape SHOULD come better health, and that has a far reaching impact. If I want to live a long and productive life I need to be in good shape - physically and mentally, which means taking control of my body and my mind (more importantly) now.

Money:
Money allows you to do everything else. Most of the other items on my goal list relate in some way, shape or form to money. Places I want to see, things I want to do - all need money, sometimes not very much granted - but having enough (or more than just enough) is important. Money gives you choices, so I am looking at the budget and finding ways I can make adjustments. I am also looking at several other avenues to utilise my skills and abilities to "earn" more.

What are your goals for the challenge? What are you doing on a daily basis to make your goals happen?
