For the herd of thinking
Selling is all about belief.
* Belief in the "product" you have to sell
* Belief in your ability to put across the benefits in such a way that your client needs it, not just wants it...
* Belief that you deserve the commission that comes from the sale
* Belief that you are good enough to earn that commission
and the most important belief
* Belief in yourself
But you may say - well that's all well and good Elle, but I'm not into sales, what has THIS got to do with me?
I would respond and say - it has everything to do with you.
If you don't believe in yourself, you will fall prey to the whim of everyone else. You will blindly follow the sheep in front of you - always following the herd, because "they" must know what's going on. And if you'll follow their lead then everything will be alright.
The problem with the herd mentality is that everyone is thinking the same things. But you can break free from the herd way of thinking.... and you can do that by believing in yourself and your own gifts and abilities.
Imagine for just one moment you were the very best in your field / school / house - without being cocky about it, you knew what needed to be done and you did that with ease. How much better would your life be? Imagine that you had all the great ideas, the time, the energy and the dedication to get out there and make your mark on the world - what would you be like as a person?
Whilst you could be arrogant (and believe me there are enough of those people about), I personally feel you would be confident, you would stand tall and you would lead the way. And it comes down to believing you could be and will be the best at whatever you do.
So today is homework day - today I want you to become that confident person. I want you to believe in yourself and that whatever you do today - will work and work well. Just remember the caveats - if you all the time, energy, money and dedication you needed what would you do today?
With many thoughts
Elle
