What do ostriches have to do with motivation?

Well the urban theory goes like this:

When an ostrich doesn't want to "see" something it sticks its head into the sand - figuring it can't see the problem so the problem will either go away or ....

Actually the problem is more likely to bite it on the bum

Are you guilty of living your life like the ostriches of this world? Well sooner or later you are going to have to pull your head out of the sand and sure enough the problem will still be there, just looming larger and larger and most probably will bite you on the bum too.

Think of bad marks for an assignment not handed in
4th quarter results not up to scratch

etc etc.

Sometimes the best way to deal with the "problem" is to do it first. Imagine that your daily task list is a piece of cake....the biggest piece is the thing you've avoided, so you nibble on the icing (doing those things you like to do first) and then when you've had enough icing you don't have room for the cake, so you can't eat it...so you say I'll eat that tomorrow....except tomorrow there will be another bigger piece of cake and some more yummy icing on the top.

Well sometimes the only way to deal with a lot of cake is to turn it upside down so you can't see the icing and start eating the cake - bit by bit by bit.... or should that be crumb by crumb.

Yes I can be guilty of telling you to "just do it" but sometimes there isn't an alternative.
