Moving forwards: Yesterday is over

Yesterday is over. Finished. It will never and I do mean NEVER be repeated - and I don't know the Dr personally so can't borrow the TARDIS for you - so you can't go back and unsay those unkind words you uttered. Nor can you go back to yesterday and complete the work you were supposed to do, but never got around to because you spent too much time doing things you shouldn't have done.

The thing is, we don't treat our yesterday's with the respect they deserve. Nor do we appreciate these days for what they are. In the main they are lost opportunities. Lost because we didn't do what we know we should have done. Lost because we wasted those few precious moments to do what would enhance our lives rather than detract from them. Instead we treat each day as if there were hundreds or thousands of other days to come. But how long do we have? The eternal question - but one that is easily answered. If you treat today like it is your last day on earth - sooner or later - it will be.

If we have just one shot at this thing called life, and we won't know who has the definitive answer until we are on the other side - and by then of course we can't warn our friends and family members of what lies ahead...then surely we shouldn't waste a moment more. Not if we know what we want and are willing to do anything and everything to get there and achieve it. It may be that your goal is to be the best wife and mother / father you can be. Or the best doctor, or lawyer, or nurse or gardener. But how about - being the best person you can be. The best student, the best employee. With global downturns it is important to ensure we don't take anything for granted. So - today I don't want you to have regrets about yesterday. Today I want you to say - I did well yesterday, but today I am going to do so much more, and I am going to be so much better at it. So come tomorrow, when you look back at yesterday - you know you will be right.
