Teamwork
Unless you are a hermit or live your life as a lighthouse keeper you will need to be a team player. You may say - but I am a student, I don't go to work, or the one I hear regularly -But I'm just a housewife, I take care of the house and the kids.
First of all there is no - I'm just a ......... We all have very important roles to play and teamwork forms a huge part of those roles.
If you have a house you know how important teamwork is. If everyone does their share in the household, then the jobs get done quicker. You wash the dishes, I'll dry and put them away. If we all pick up our own things and put them into our rooms we can all tidy the house in a few minutes.
Students and teachers are working as a team to pass on information and to gain knowledge. And yes it is (or should be a two-way process), just as mentors and mentorees learn from each other in the workplace. Sir / Miss I don't understand can you explain that in a different way, or give me another example....help me to relate it to what I know so I can abosrb it into my knowledge bank.
If you show me what to do I can help you.
On the production line, if you do your bit I can do mine and we can all make this "thing" work.
Project teams and focus groups have their own part to play to make a collective decision.
And if one of those bits is missing it's like having a football team without thestriker. Goals get missed. Imagine if the team didn't have a captain - how well do you think the team would function?
As you go about your day, check on your teams. Are they working together, or are there goals being missed because there is a vital piece missing?
