Increase productivity: Stop worrying over nothing

"Why is it, that no matter how busy we are, we always find time to worry" - P K Shaw

How many times have you spent sleepless nights worrying?
How many times did the thing you worried and agonised over never happen?

It's like waking up every morning and worrying what the weather is going to do today, or whether you will find a parking spot. We worry about what people think about us. We worry about what other people are doing. We are worrying about things we have NO direct control over.

When you stop and think about it objectively. You cannot control anyone but you. You can control your thoughts and your actions. And that's it. You can't control anyone else's thoughts or actions - at all. You may be able to influence them somewhat, you may bully people into doing things, or you may use the guilt thing - but that is never a positive way to influence people. Influence people by the way you act.

When you consider that your future lies in your hands and no-one elses - then the true changes will begin to happen. You will decide what it is you want to do, be and achieve, and you can do it if you stop filling your mind and your life with useless and wasteful worrying.

I had a full day yesterday with many different aspects of life from fun teaching dance class, to a memorial service, work related email asking for reports, back to a dance performance. So lot's of high's and lows. Exhausted I meditated before bed and went to sleep... 3:10 it all surfaced back and the focus was on work, but I have been working to set myself straight and know that only I have control of my situations and I can change my attitude and make things better. I know this and so I renegotiated with my worrying mind to assure I do not manifest the worst by bringing it to myself I would need to readjust my thoughts and go to the thing that was the best part of the whole day. This helped and I was able to quell the worrying and go back to sleep. However, this has taken months of continual practice to change my thoughts and not always successful based on past bad habits, I am getting better. Funny you wrote about this today...

Thanks as always you nailed it! KAT

Thanks to both of you for those comments, it makes my day to read them and to know the Daily Dose is still inspiring you. Kat - I call it synchronicity - wherever we are in the world, there will be someone going through what we are going through, which makes our burdens slightly easier to bear.

Someone once told me that before she went to bed at night - she decided who she wanted sleeping with her. You see - every time you go to bed angry - that's the person you are taking to bed with you - which is something to think about.

Have a great day
