Changing your attitude towards: Money, time and your attitude

When it comes to overcoming the procrastination habit, some of the biggest problems we encounter towards our goals, lies in our beliefs about money, time and the way we think and behave.

If we think we can't afford to do something, then we won't do it. We say we want to travel the world, but our thoughts about our work and the amount of money that's involved in "going round the world" is the equivalent of a gallon drum of cold water falling over ourselves and our plans.

But if you change your thought processes - you can say - well if I need to work to earn the money so I can travel the world, then why can't I work my way around the world. Have you any idea how many staff a cruise liner needs? Ok, you may not be able to get time off in every port - but chances are going to be good you'll see a fair few.

Or use a skill that is transferable across every country - don't think making coffee is beneath you, or waiting tables for that matter - if you want to do something badly enough - you will find a way of making that happen.

Now - before you say, but I'm too old / young / fat / then you haven't been listening to me - your major limiting belief about ANY goal - occurs right between your ears.

Instead of telling yourself you can't do something because ...

Tell yourself you can do it if you ..... and then write down a few ideas, nothing is stupid, nothing is outrageous, nothing is considered un-doable until you decide it is.

And the same goes for our limiting beliefs about TIME

I'm sure most of you have uttered the words "But I don't have the time to...." please fill in the blank

Why don't you have the time?

- Books have been written in half hour slots,
- Houses can be cleaned one room at a time, or if that is too much, one drawer at a time.
- Books are read - one word at a time.
- If you find the time to watch a television program then you have the time to do some exercise as well. It may look ridiculous but - try running on the spot during the ad breaks, or move your exercise bike in front of the tv and cycle your way through your favourite programs. I used to read a book whilst riding my indoor bike.

Sometimes - it just needs an adjustment in the planning. When my kids were little - when they napped I worked. Sometimes if all the time you have is before everyone else gets up in a morning - then guess what, that's when you do your own stuff.

When you consider we all have the same amount of time given to us every day, have you ever stopped to wonder why so many people are able to do so much - and others say they could do so many things if only they had the time....the difference between the two:

1. Their attitude towards time
2. Their attitude towards their attitude

Remember, the biggest limiting factor lies right between your ears.

It's up to you what you get out of your life. Change your mind set about time, money and your attitude towards yourself and your goals.

Ask yourself one final question.

"Am I not worth the time, money and effort to do what I really want to do?"

And the answer to that one will determine every thing else.

With many thoughts

a year too late, but I've really enjoyed reading your article. I especially like your quote, "your biggest limiting factor lies right between your ears." It's so strange, we are our own worst enemy, we are the ones that have control over our lives, and only we can change the direction of our lives. bravo to this post!

Hi Lauren

A year too late or perfect for now .... as we have no control over what happened yesterday anymore, all we can do is move forwards.

Really glad you liked it

here's to your success
