Oiling the nuts and bolts

The nuts and bolts are the fundamentals. Those things that keep our plans and our progress on track. But if we don't look after them they soon rust and get stiff with misuse. Take your mind and your body. The two most important parts of what makes you - you (in a physical sense). But do we take the time to look after them?

Be honest, most of us feed our minds and our bodies on a diet of junk, and we expect ourselves to be able to perform at peak performance every day. Is it any wonder we fail.

We talk about what we need to do on a daily basis to keep our minds and our bodies in good health, because without either - nothing can be achieved. Well, I suppose that's not strictly true. We can eat bad things day after day and we think our bodies are doing ok - until we have that first heart attack. You're sitting in the doctor's waiting room, wondering if you shouldn't have had the odd service over the years. The doctor appears with a large clipboard and a look on his face. "There's not much we can do - because there's been no maintenance over the years, the nuts and bolts are seized shut and you might as well trade in your old body for a new model - cos we can't fix the old one any more."

Today you have a choice - you can have a look at what you are doing. Today you can decide if what you are doing is ok, and we all know there is always room for improvement. We all have dreams and goals that we have not given much thought to today - and we know that if we don't - then tomorrow it will be harder to get started on those things we say are important to us.

Your goals are made up of millions of tiny nuts and bolts, each one adding to the bigger "engine" that is your new life. But if you don't take care of the nuts and bolts you're goals and dreams will seize shut and it will take a huge amount of effort to start the process again, which is why most goals and dreams falter. People forget they need to oil the nuts and bolts.

kind of started to oil my nuts and bolts by riding bicycle to my job....... o my thighs pain like anything and honestly my body is not at all tuned to exercise (no one's is i know :)) but such readings of yours make me feel ashamed a little though not very much at times.......
so oiling my nuts and bolts :)
