The importance of mindful thought

"Energy and persistence conquer all things." -- Benjamin Franklin

But have you stopped, I mean really stopped to see where your energy is actually going? Believe it or not, it's not just in your actions, but your thoughts you need to watch to see where your energy is heading.

If you are worrying over something your energy is feeding the worry. If you don't stop thinking about "the worry" then it will persist into other areas. The more you worry, the less you are able to do what you know needs doing.

If you are wondering when this email is going to end, you are not reading and absorbing the message. And it could be any message - the news, TV, radio, a class you hate, a seminar you didn't want to go to. If your mind (and your energy) is not on the message you will fail to absorb it. You will be wondering what's for dinner, if your boy/girlfriend really meant what they said last night; what you will do that stupid driver if you ever catch up with them and on and on and on.

Our minds are one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal. But most of the time our mind is allowed to wander around like a teenager who doesn't know what to do with itself. And that's usually when the problems begin.

So practice the art of mindful thought and see if you can't change the way your mind and your energy is heading. Because if you can change your thoughts you can take the actions that will change your life.

With many thoughts

Hi Elle,

I totally agree with your post.
From the day i have started monitoring my thoughts i noticed how much thought i have been giving to all the negative and unimportant things in life.Humans have a tendency to forget good memories very easily but a bad experience stays to haunt you forever.

Thank you, it is good to know this post struck a chord with you. Once we begin to be aware, we can begin to do something about it. Yes it takes time, but if we can learn to file the bad thoughts away we can begin to move forwards again.

To many good memories
