You cannot do what you cannot see
Firm foundations are essential.
Without firm foundations your building will be on shaky ground and will eventually come crashing down around your ears.
Most dreams and goals fail because of the lack of these firm foundations. Firm foundations begin with the vision. In the case of building, you need to know what you want the building to look like - before you start dumping bricks in a haphazard fashion and hope they turn into something that resembles your idea. If you "think" you know what you want, your bricks will not be laid properly and I can guarantee your "dream" will never become a reality. And you know i'm right, yet every time we begin a new project - we don't stop to build a firm foundation. We don't stop and think what the finished aspect will look like, feel like, smell like. We have this vague, wishy washy notion that we'll work it out as we go along. No we won't, we know we won't, yet we think that this time we'll get it right. Yet we have failed to lay the foundations....again.
Someone once said "You cannot do what you cannot see." And it's true. If you cannot "see" your building, you will be swayed by indecisions and mind changing. You will also be swayed by everyone else's whims and decisions over what they think your house should look like. But if you can "see" it, you know what it will look like and then every decision you take is like another row of bricks. Each one added to the one before, each row taking you onwards to your completed project.
Take any of your stalled projects and go back to the beginning. Spend time today taking your project apart, what should it look like when it's finished? What will you have to do / change for that to happen? If you can't see it in its finished state, you will never complete it. And if that is the case, then you should stick it in the back of the drawer or better still in the garbage, because you're just kidding yourself and wasting your time. And we don't want to waste time, life's too short for that - even if you think you have all the time in the world, you haven't so why waste your life on things that don't mean anything to you. Because, believe me when i say this - if your projects mean something to you, you will see it in all its technicolor detail and nothing will stop you from achieving many great things.
