Improve your standard of living

Standards - these are the things that makes YOU who you are

Do you have a standard that means you are constantly improving yourself and your "game"?
Or do your habits keep you stuck - "living" to your current set of "standards"

How do you raise your standards?

By changing your habits.

Habits are created first in the sub-conscious part of the mind. We may think it is our actions and behaviours - but in reality our sub-conscious is telling us what we need to do. So it is not your actions that need to be changed first, but your thoughts. Your conscious thought processes need to overcome the pull of the non-conscious thoughts that rule our lives.

Once you have made a conscious decision to change, then your actions should back them up.

These actions repeated over time, become new habits. But in the first few days / weeks it is your thoughts that are the most important part of the process. Guard them carefully or your sub-conscious will drag you back to the safety of "what you know".

You can make this easier for yourself - and you do that by associating with "better" people.

These may be people you can see and meet on a regular basis - mentors and coaches for example, changing your job so you can meet new people. By associating with people who do the things that you want to do. Do you associate with people who exercise or those who prefer to watch the game rather than play it? Check your associations - they are important in this process of change. But they can also be "people" you can't meet - now or in the future - but you can read their words and you can watch programs that tell you how they became the people they did.

You may not think your associations play a big part in how you live your life and your current "standard" of living. But believe me - everything is important, and if you want to improve your standard of living then you need to understand the equation

Thoughts + Action = Habits

And as you now know, HABITS create your standards.

Inspiration comes from many people and I would like to thank the great Tony Robbins for the initial thoughts that prompted this edition of the daily dose.
