Defeating boredom is child's play
Children are always learning. They want to know how things work, they want to know why things work and they are always asking questions.
When you think you have answered every question, there is always one more - WHY?
Children have a huge capacity for learning, which is probably a good thing given they have to learn everything from scratch - we're lucky, we know everything there is to know about life - well we do don't we?
Actually we just think we do.
Are you a business owner? Well if you had to set your business up again from scratch - what would you do differently? Every business can benefit from looking at it from a different perspective. Don't just ask - what is working / what isn't working. But how would I do this better next time? And please don't tell me your business is perfect and doesn't need reinventing. Just do me a favour, and don't start with what you know and re-create it. But ask yourself some questions - what would happen if ....
*What would happen if we were in a different location
*A different size premise
*Can we work from home?
*Can mobile technology make my job easier?
*Can we do without a dozen email accounts?
*What lines would I not touch with a barge-pole if I had the chance to do it all again?
Given that you are older and supposedly smarter than you were when you did set up your business - you should have some interesting answers to those kinds of questions.
I know some of you won't have businesses to run, but there will be some things you do on a regular basis - and the same sorts of questions apply to you.
* What could you do differently to make your life / lives easier / better / different?
* What would your ideal life be like? Take time to plan it
When you are willing to question whatever you do and ask - is what I am doing the best use of my time right now? Is this taking me towards or away from my goals / where I say I want to be?
Remember: Variety is the key to defeating boredom, and vitality the key to achievement. 2010 is the year to make sure you do live a vital life - it's time to question EVERYTHING.

[please allow me to agree and disagree with you here. These few statements are the quintessential stuff of madness.]
[This article seems to be a dumb-down of an other wise regular expression of growth and success.]
1 if you are bored, you are not learning. (Succeeding, meeting goals, achieving results, etc.)
2 if you are not learning, (See item 1 above) you better be transitioning or you are stagnate. (See item 3 below)
3 if you are stagnate and/ or transition is not positively productive, then make variations. (one variation or the entire venue based on results vs. expected outcome of results.)
4 if results are acceptable, (Optimal, risk factors MUST be assessed before the next variation is employed.)
Failure is a result.
Observe. Something is happening, whether you perceive it or not. Data is always present in and of itself.
Thanks Elle. It's great being poked by you.
